Scott is a hands-on finance leader with more than 25 years of experience guiding many businesses through growth, transition, and financial transformation. Before founding Ascend, he served as CFO at Bullrock Corporation, Vermont Teddy Bear, Heritage Aviation, and Hubbardton Forge, and held financial leadership roles at Fab-Tech, Burton Snowboards, and American Skiing Company. Known for his team-building ethos and deep operational insight, Scott thrives in fast-paced, performance-driven environments. His vision for Ascend was born from a belief that small and mid-sized companies deserve access to the same level of strategic financial leadership as larger firms, without the burden of full-time overhead.

Tim George - DIRECTOR
Tim brings over 25 years of executive leadership experience across finance, operations, and strategy. A native Vermonter, he has held key roles at respected companies including Vermont Teddy Bear, Burton Snowboards, Hampton Direct, and City Market. As a former CFO, Tim has guided entrepreneurial businesses through growth and transformation—providing seasoned counsel in accounting, supply chain, HR, legal affairs, and IT. Known for his pragmatic leadership style and cross-functional expertise, Tim offers the kind of steady, high-level insight typically found in larger organizations. He holds undergraduate degrees in Finance and Political Science from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned his MBA from the University of Vermont.

With over 25 years of operational leadership experience, Dan specializes in driving business efficiency, team development, and strategic growth for fast-scaling companies. He has served as COO at Hubbardton Forge, Burlington Labs, Sleeping Well LLC, and VP of Business Excellence at Aspenti Health, leading transformative operational improvements. As the founder of Wholebiz Advisors, Dan helps businesses streamline operations, overcome challenges, and achieve their strategic goals. His expertise in scaling companies and optimizing business systems empowers organizations to operate more effectively and grow sustainably.

Cheryl’s love of accounting is matched only by her passion for learning and building relationships. She now calls Vermont home, where she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and granddaughter.

She’s held controller roles in fast-growing eCommerce firms and provided accounting and property management support across multiple entities. With a background that includes a decade in public accounting, Deb excels at improving accounting systems, leading software conversions, and supporting clients with clear, accurate financial reporting.

Joyce thrives on the detail-oriented work of bookkeeping and producing clean, reliable reports for boards and leadership teams.

Justin brings over a decade of accounting experience supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses with financial systems and reporting. He holds a Certificate in Accounting from Champlain College and has worked with clients across industries including software, real estate, retail, and manufacturing. Known for his thoughtful, systems-driven approach, Justin builds tools that support better decisions. Outside of work, he enjoys Morris dancing and playing traditional folk music on his melodeon.

Most recently, she spent 13 years supporting attorneys as the office manager and bookkeeper at a busy Burlington law firm. Ki is known for her sharp organizational skills and deep love of bookkeeping. She excels at juggling priorities and solving operational challenges with both creativity and precision.

That experience gave her a strong foundation in financial oversight and business leadership. During the pandemic, she pivoted to pursue an accounting degree and has since supported several Vermont businesses with day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
